Community: a usually small, social unit of any size that shares common values.

Here in Digiland we have a community that not only allows us to share our creativity but also provides us an opportunity to meet people all over the world and form amazing friendships. Many of us may never meet in real life, but the relationships we form are as real as any. When a member of our community is hurt, it hurts our heart because there is so little we can do to help. Today is not that day where we can do nothing to help.

The owner of Oscraps is Vicki Stegall. She is from Moore, Oklahoma where the tornados hit on May 20th causing mass destruction in her town only a mile from her home. Vicki, her family and her friends were all safe. Although she had a lot of clean up, thankfully her home was spared from the destruction. Unfortunately, a lot of areas of her town were completely destroyed.

Upon hearing of the destruction, the Oscraps designers came together and decided the best way they could help out was to do what Designers do best…CREATE!!! So create they have…along with some fellow designers from the community, they have created an amazing MEGA Community Collaboration. None of the proceeds for this kit will be going to Vicki or her family, but to the community through the disaster relief efforts of the Red Cross. We have created a kit that offers hope, peace and togetherness, which is so often found after a community is broken. Everyone pulls together and helps each other out, despite what they are also going through.

May we present to you: an Oscraps & Friends Collaboration

Do you know that Scrapbookgraphics organized a charity?

With the season of giving, gratitude and joy upon us, it would be fun to give a simple present to the Sick Kid’s Hospital Foundation. It might be simple and little but believe me that “Every Little Bit Counts”.

For only $5 you will receive…

… 87 unique digital elements. You will also receive your own digital print drawer converted to a 12 x 12 size, with back removed as a separate layer for easy element placement. Plus, as an added bonus you will also receive a really fun Photoshop action that will automatically insert your choice of elements into the print tray drawer. (Action tested in PSE 5-9, CS3-5)
That’s more than your money’s worth! Plus, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that the money you used to purchase the collection will go directly towards helping Sick Children.

This collection will only be available for a limited time. Before the end of ‘December we will remove the collection forever, tally up the totals and make our donation to the foundation. Maya from Scrapboographics will post the totals and the receipt for that donation on the Studio Matters blog.

Even the smallest of contributions can go a very long way when we cooperate and work together. Please join us!

Scrappers Give Thanks is an annual community scrapbooking project benefiting a chosen charitable cause or organization. Founded by Jennifer S. Wilson with gracious support from Anna Aspnes, our inaugural project in 2009 delivered over 650 handmade cards to Operation Write Home.

The 2nd annual Scrappers Give Thanks project has a goal of assembling 2000 participant-created 4×6 pages into 100 ten page (double-sided) mini albums to be delivered to 10 children’s hospitals across the country. Submitted pages should be scrapbook-style mini artworks containing positive words, happy images, jokes etc. and may be in digital or tangible formats.

The Scrappers Give Thanks mini albums will be assembled with 4×6 page protectors and o-rings. To ensure a consistent look and feel, participants must adhere to the following specifications:

>> Single-sided 4×6 pages
>> Vertical orientation only (4″ wide by 6″ tall)
>> Include age-appropriate positive messages and/or images
>> No glitter, embellishments greater than 1/4″ thick or copyrighted images

Visit the Scrappers Give Thanks Flickr group to view great examples from our creative team and fellow participants. The following digital submission is an excellent example of a fun page designed to bring cheer to kids:

Digital contributions should be emailed to [email protected] as attachments. (Please do not zip.) All digital submissions will be printed by Scrappers Give Thanks through our printing partner, Persnickety Prints, and thus should be created at 300ppi and saved as a high resolution JPEG.

Paper submissions should be mailed to the following address no later than November 20, 2010 and MUST include an email address. Entries must be received by Wednesday, November 24 to be eligible for the giveaway.

We began selling One Love on January 22, 2010; and within just nine short days had raised over $9,600.00 USD. We were able to make our first donation in the amount of $9685.84 to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund on February 3, 2010.

We made our second donation on February, 16, 2010; and we couldn’t be more excited to share that our second donation was in the amount of $953.76 which, again, was donated to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund.

We, again, are deeply touched by the support shown by the digital scrapbooking community.

One Love is starting to be sold on January 22, 2010; and within just nine short days had raised over $9,600.00 USD.

We were able to make our first donation in the amount of $9685.84 to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund on February 3, 2010. We chose the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund not only because it embodies the spirit of One Love, but also because 100% of the donations will go to the relief and recovery efforts in Haiti and because they are working to provide both immediate relief and long-term support to the earthquake survivors.

We have been deeply touched by the love and selflessness shown throughout the digital scrapbook community; from the Designers who helped to create this kit to those who helped promote it and those who purchased it. We are very proud to be part to such a wonderful community. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us make a difference.

“One love refers to the universal love and respect expressed by all people for all people, regardless of race, creed, or color.”

Forty-eight designers from around the community have joined together to bring you this incredible kit with the common purpose of raising funds for Haitian aid and relief. Our theme, “One Love”, symbolizes not only our heartfelt effort to help the people of Haiti, but also encompasses the diverse styles of all the designers involved in this project. This kit represents the diversity of our community and shows that even though we are all different, when we come together the result is truly spectacular.

The profits from the sale of this kit will be donated to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund. We chose the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund not only because it embodies the spirit of One Love, but also because 100% of the donations will go to the relief and recovery efforts in Haiti and because they are working to provide both immediate relief and long-term support to the earthquake survivors.

This beautiful kit includes 114 papers, 356 elements, 3 alphabets, 6 page templates and 1 hybrid template.

A very special thank you to these wonderful ladies who donated their time and talent to support this important cause:
